THE DEVIPUR PACHEWAR FORT
Devipur is located in Pachewar Fort, situated in the heart of the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is just 90 Kms from Jaipur on the road to Ajmer. FORT PACHEWAR is an ancestral Palace more than 350 years old, which was renovated and converted into a luxurious Heritage Hotel in 1996. Fort Pachewar allows you to separate from the crowds of India and still enjoy all the modern amenities. From the comfort of the Palace you can walk through the rural village and see the old traditions, customs, attire, ambience and beloved hospitality of Rajasthan.
Pachewar village was once ruled by the Khangarot Rajputs, a sub clan of Kachhawas (rulers of erstwhile Jaipur). Thakur Anoop Singh Ji Khangarot, the then Qileidar of Khandar captured the Fort of Ranthambore from the Marathas and annexed it into Jaipur. In lieu of his exemplary courage and loyalty to Maharaja Sawai Madhosingh Ji the first of Jaipur, he was rewarded with the fief of Pachewar in 1758 A.D. This was passed on to his son Thakur Gulab Singh Ji Khangarot, who in turn handed it over to his son Thakur Kesri Singh Ji Khangarot, who in turn handed it over to his son Thakur Man Singh Ji Khangarot. The Fort was later handled by Thakur Nahar Singh Ji Khangarot, who finally entrusted his daughter Mrs Madhulika Singh ji (current owner) with the responsibility of taking the legacy ahead.
Fort Pachewar Garh is situated in the middle of the village Pachewar. From its rooftop terraces you have a 360 degree view of the entire village, lake Pampasagar and the farmlands beyond. Climb down the labyrinth-like passage ways of the fort and venture into the village to explore the ancient Temples and Royal Cenotaphs situated on the banks of lake Pampasagar. Continue on to visit artisans producing goods as they have been produced for centuries; black smith, gold smith, carpet weaving, Rajasthani blue pottery and the oil mill using oxen in the traditional method. And for those interested in Indian food culture, you are invited to a cooking demonstration where, after shopping at the local market with your host, you will join her at her home as she cooks the family's daily meal.
Life at Pachewar Fort is an opportunity to step back in time and get a glimpse of humanity’s history, your history.
